The weather man is too often wrong, but one report that never fails to get it right are consumer trend reports. Last month there was a sharp 31% increase in the sales of outdoor activity equipment such as tents, mountain bikes and caravans, and that increase is expected to rise again with each coming month of the summer. Consumer trend reports such as this are often excellent indicators of what is going on in wider society, and what this report is telling us is that Brits have very suddenly begun to start preparing for summer after a long, cold spring.
We spoke to Towsure, the UK’s leading outdoor leisure store specialising in motorhome and caravan supplies, who had this to say: “We’ve seen a really sudden increase in the number of people buying outdoor equipment such as barbecues, awnings and mountain bikes. People want to explore the great outdoors this summer so they’re choosing activity equipment to make the most of these sunny days.”
Towsure.com offer premium caravan supplies as well as tents, bicycles, accessories and much more. They went on to say: “Sales are always a trustworthy sign of the weather and we’re glad to say that customers are definitely preparing for hot summer days.”
Although the weather forecast may not be too optimistic, consumer trend reports are seldom wrong when it comes to predicting changes in the weather. What these reports also tell us is that Britons are getting more active with their summer activities. Instead of choosing to idly laze in the garden, more people are opting for a day of mountain biking or hiking.
Towsure told us: “Customers are definitely more eager to be active this summer. Everyone wants to make the most of this rare and beautiful weather, so they’re buying mountain bikes and embracing the great outdoors.”
Towsure are the United Kingdom's leading towing and outdoor leisure store. They offer high quality marine products, awnings, tents, clothing, cycles, accessories and much more.
Towsure began in 1967 as a small family store in the suburbs of Sheffield, selling towing brackets and trailer parts. Throughout the seventies the demand for towing, trailer parts and accessories grew, and so in 1977 Towsure produced the first mail order catalogue to demonstrate the wide range of low cost parts, including popular full size awnings.
