Our customers will see this as a hugely positive benefit when buying a tree online knowing that a little bit of the payment will go directly to a charity. It is the season for giving and thinking of others and it is an initiative we strongly believe in. We are delighted to have partnered with Vitalise this year. Growing trees all year round, to sell online, knowing it might help others makes all those wet, frosty days out on the farm worth itRory Young, 33, founder www.scottishchristmastrees.co.uk

Vitalise is a national charity providing essential breaks for people with disabilities, visually impaired people, and carers.  Vitalise provides short breaks for people with disabilities and carers, with 24-hour nursing care on-call and personal support, at three UK centres, offering a wide range of activities and excursions. Vitalise also organises holidays in the UK and overseas for visually impaired people, accompanied by sighted guides.

Linda Duberley, Vitalise’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, said:

We’re so grateful for the support of Scottish Christmas Trees at this special time of year. Every Christmas tree purchased will help fund our vital work. For people coping with disability and the duty of care, Christmas can be a difficult time. But it’s also a time for giving, so we hope that people will open their hearts and buy their tree from Scottish Christmas Trees, knowing that by doing so they will be helping Vitalise support disabled people and carers, not just at Christmas, but all year round.”

INFORMATION FOR EDITORS:

Scottish Christmas Trees is a family run web business based in South West Scotland, set up and run by third generation farmer, Rory Young (33). Rory has won recognition for his Christmas trees with awards for quality across various categories. All the trees are grown on the farm and follow strict grading rules before being sent to a customer.  The trees are cut fresh to order then immediately dispatched to arrive in the best condition possible.  ScottishChristmasTrees is the UK’s longest established online website selling Christmas trees where quality and customer service is paramount. The Christmas trees are grown as a crop where sustainability is important. For every tree cut for sale another one is planted - real trees are a renewable resource, artificial trees will last a life time in landfill sites. There are over 250,000 trees of various types and sizes on the farm at any one time. A real tree helps the environment - 1 acre of Christmas trees (approximately 2,500 trees) provides enough daily oxygen for 18 people and will absorb approximately 2 tons of carbon dioxide a year.
