The Blackberry Torch Offers Outstanding Functionality

The Blackberry Torch is an innovative new handset from the popular manufacturer.  It boasts the best of both worlds in terms of a touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard.  This makes it very versatile unit, offering appeal to a wide range of different users.


The Blackberry Torch handset measures 111x 62x 14.6 mm whilst weighing in at 161 g.  The 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen has a pixel layout of 360x 480 pixels which is capable of displaying up to 16,000,000 individual colours.  This makes a great phone for viewing photos and videos thanks to the superior display quality.  The handset packs a full slide out QWERTY keyboard, meaning that people who send a lot of emails or text messages are catered for.  Users can either navigate the Blackberry OS user interface either by using the touch screen, or the trackpad located at the base of the screen.  The screen comes with multi-touch input support as well as a proximity sensor for auto turn off.


A handy 4 GB of onboard storage capacity is provided as standard alongside 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM.  This gives users plenty of space to keep their music tracks, video clips or Microsoft Office documents.  On the occasion that further storage should be required, the integrated microSD card slot can be utilised.  This comes with a pre-installed 4 GB memory card; however this can be replaced with a card of up to 32 GB.


GPRS & EDGE in class 10 versions keep the Blackberry Torch connected to appropriate cellular networks when out and about.  In order to browse the Internet, the handset utilises 3G coverage, whereby an HSDPA connection provides fast download speeds alongside HSUPA.  In order to achieve a speedier and more reliable connection, full Wi-Fi connectivity is provided, meaning that users can take advantage of local wireless networks whenever they have the appropriate access details.  Bluetooth and micro USB connections are also included so that users can connect the handset to compatible hardware devices whereby tasks such as transferring media files and backing up contact information can be carried out.


The Blackberry Torch is a highly competent cameraphone, offering a 5 mega pixel unit which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels.  Autofocus, LED flash, image stabilisation and continuous auto-focus are all provided as standard in go a long way to improving the quality of the resulting still images.  As an alternative method of image capture, this camera can also shoot VGA quality video footage at a rate of 24 fps.


The Blackberry OS 6.0 operating system is called upon to provide an easy to navigate user interface along with powerful applications at the users fingertips.  A number of different social networking, productivity and multimedia features are all included as standard, making the Blackberry Torch a versatile all rounder.
