HTC look set to enjoy a superb year thanks to the launch of their impressive new range of mobile devices. The HTC One X is the flagship model in this range and boasts some superb specification and this model has now been joined by another new handset in the shape of the HTC One S. We see what these two models are offering in terms of design and screen performance.
With both handsets being developed by the same manufacturer there is very little difference between the two of them in terms of design. The HTC One X offers a similar appearance to many models that the company have released over the past three years with a neat rectangular body and curved edges. The handset is much slimmer than many of last years models at just 8.9mm which is particularly impressive for what is essentially a large mobile phone with a 4.7 inch screen. A slim bezel surrounds the screen which looks very attractive and the multi layered bodywork looks superb especially in the white version of the model. The HTC One S does offer some slight differences in this area. The slim bezel is once again present but this time it is in a silver finish which looks very impressive. There is also a slightly raised piece of body on the back of the chassis which helps the model to feel a little more comfortable when in use. The model makes use of a smaller 4.3 inch screen so as you can imagine the body is smaller than the One X and the device is also very slim, it actually measures 1.1mm less than its sibling model at just 7.8mm. Both of these two handsets are attractive devices despite neither handset offering anything that is radically different in terms of design.
HTC are offering some superb quality screens on this years range of models and this is evident on both of these devices. The HTC One Xuses a large 4.7 inch display which makes the model the handset of choice for people who really want to make the most use of multi media facilities. The display uses Super IPS LCD2 screen technology which is the newest type of LCD screen currently available. This type of display produces stunning colours and also offers improved viewing in bright conditions. In terms of resolution the One X can display an impressive 720 x 1280 pixels which enables the model to offer a superb pixel density of 312PPI. The HTC One S uses a smaller 4.3 inch which uses Super AMOLED screen technology. This type of screen has been used on popular models like the Samsung Galaxy S2 and is reportedly the brightest type of display available. A resolution of 540 x 960 pixels can be displayed which means that the One S ends up with a slightly lower pixel density than the One X of 256 pixels per inch. Both of these two screens are impressive but the flagship model in the range offers the higher standard in this department thanks to a higher PPI and also the larger screen size which will appeal to many consumers.
The HTC One X and One S are both super new devices that are sure to prove popular throughout 2012. There really is little to choose between the handsets in terms of design but when it comes to screen technology the HTC One X clearly holds the upper hand.
