The retailer began back in 2006 when ASOS was enjoying the first signs of success and most retailers such as TopMan, John Lewis and Habitat didn’t even have an online store. Fashion designer Matthew Priestley saw an opportunity to create a niche online store retailing designer men’s underwear and swimwear. Initially the business was ran from home with a handful of brands and very little online competition. Over the next 3 years the company outgrew its base and moved into warehouse and office space in Leicester to cope with demand
Over the ten years, they’ve gone from selling just a handful of brands to over 30, with over 1000 styles of men’s underwear, swimwear and sportswear being stocked on their website. Brands like Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, Versace and Hugo Boss can be found amongst other specialist brands like Rufskin, Boardies and Oiler & Boiler. The brand have become so well recognised and respected in that industry that they have managed to acquire exclusivity on brands like Rufskin and 2(x)ist in the UK and exclusivity on certain styles in the UK from Tommy Hilfiger, Emporio Armani and Diesel.
With the rise in the #selfie, increasing increase in celebrity personas, as well as the healthy industry boom of late, men are working on their bodies more than ever, and want products that reflect their athletic and fashionable nature- plus being able to show off their abs, biceps and quads is always a bonus and BANG+STRIKE most definitely understands their audience like no other!
