Digital marketing agency Tecmark has added three new members of staff to its growing technical team. The new recruits will help drive the Manchester-based company forwards as it continues to expand its mobile applications (apps) development and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) services in the region and across the UK.
Gareth Chadwick joins the team as client services manager bringing with him four years’ experience as a search engine consultant. He will manage clients across both the SEO and apps divisions of the business and reports in directly to MD Richard Heyes.
Adrian Wu and Alex Kelbas take on iPhone developer roles and will create bespoke applications for individual clients. Kelbas and Wu both graduated in Computer Science this summer and Smartphone applications was a core feature of their University course. They will bring up-to-date knowledge of the product and its potential to Tecmark and will report in to Matt Cawley, head developer and Kevin Jones, digital director.
The three new recruits take the total number of staff to 11 and join Tecmark at its peak. The number of new clients has increased significantly during 2010, with an impressive 85% of existing clients buying additional services and increasing their spend with Tecmark. Turnover currently stands at £750,000. This is forecast to reach £1.2m by the end of this financial year (March 2011).
All three will be based in the city centre offices and will spend time in the satellite office in London as the business expands nationally.
Tecmark specialises in the design, development and delivery of apps, specifically for iPhone, iPad and Android Smartphones and also offers bespoke SEO services. Formed in 2008 by Richard Heyes and Kevin Jones, the company was launched to provide a range of SEO services, but since the end of 2009, apps have become more and more popular due to the number of people using Smartphones and Heyes and Jones recognised a gap in the UK market and branched out into app development, while still offering the successful SEO side of the business.
Ofcom research shows that 23% of the UK’s mobile phone users now use their handsets to access the internet, revealing a growing trend in the British population going “mobile” in their browsing. Much of this usage can be attributed to the 26% of UK mobile users who now have Smartphones and as the uptake in such handsets increases, so too will mobile internet usage, highlighting the growing importance of internet marketing companies such as Tecmark.
In many cases, SEO and app development work is carried out in the USA or Eastern Europe but Tecmark is special in that it conducts all its work in-house in the UK and does not outsource projects overseas. Tecmark MD, Richard Heyes, says: “It’s refreshing for our clients to know that we handle everything ourselves and that any questions they have can be dealt with here in the UK in a matter of minutes.”
Heyes continues: “Our business is growing at a rapid pace as the demand for app development is at an all time high. We are handling an incredible number of enquiries every month and to meet this demand and to service all our clients to the highest standards, we have taken on our three new recruits. They will be a valuable asset to the team and will contribute to our future growth and expansion as we become a major force in the UK app and SEO markets. It is such an exciting time in our industry at the moment, as it is showing rapid growth and offers huge potential for creativity and further development.”
Tecmark works directly with clients and also operates via other marketing, creative, digital and video production agencies who may want to incorporate apps into their overall marketing activities for their projects.
Tecmark clients include Diabetic Friend, Woolworths and Numberstore. Earlier this year, Tecmark launched a satellite office in London to handle increasing demand in the South of the country.
