UK Developer Of The Year Golden Joystick highlights industry excellence

Press Release   •   Oct 07, 2010 12:11 BST

The UK Developer Of The Year Award at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards recognises the world leading games development taking place at home, shining a light on the creative quality and consistent high standards of game creation from UK studios.

2010 has been a strong year for new releases, making this one of the most hotly competed and sought after categories. Codemasters created F1 2010, Bodycount and Colin McRae: Dirt 2 and will be much fancied to secure a large portion of the vote. Other UK studios releasing triple-A games included Rockstar North’s Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, while Lionhead released the eagerly-anticipated Fable III.

Last year’s winners; Jagex, will be hoping for a repeat result having released Miner Disturbance and War of Legends. Also competing for the top honour is Sony Computer Entertainment’s London Studio for the likes of ModNation Racers, Rocksteady Studios for Batman Arkham Asylum, alongside releases from Rare, Media Molecule and Team 17.

The full list of nominations in the UK Developer Of The Year category for the 2010 Golden Joystick Awards is:

Codemasters

EA Bright Light

Jagex

Lionhead

Media Molecule

Rare

Rockstar North

Rocksteady Studios

Sony Computer Entertainment London Studios

The categories in the Golden Joystick Awards are voted for by the only people who matter – the gamers themselves. Known as the ‘people’s gaming awards’ it is also held in high esteem in the global video games industry with nearly 1,000 executives attending the glittering ceremony, which will this year be held at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel on 29th October 2010.

The ever-growing Golden Joystick Awards has been the ultimate accolade in gaming since 1982 and is now recognised as the biggest and most popular gaming awards on the planet.
