UK’s 2012 Oscar-shortlisted Breakthru Films bring their Peter & the Wolf Live to London’s Southbank this Easter weekend

Press release   •   Mar 30, 2012 17:29 BST

Mackenzie Crook (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Office) narrates a new version of Peter & the Wolf composed by Simon Armitage against the backdrop of the Oscar-winning animation. The Aurora Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Collon, will provide a stunning live rendition of Prokofiev’s timeless score.

Breakthru Films, founded by producer Hugh Welchman, was very nearly nominated for a second Oscar this year with 3D film, Magic Piano, set to the music of Chopin and performed by Chinese maestro, Lang Lang. The film premiered with live musical accompaniment at the New York International Children’s Film Festival (Lincoln Center) in March this year, and recently won best short film at Poland’s leading animation festival, OFAFA, in Krakow.

The Royal Festival Hall will be home to a special gala performance of Peter & the Wolf this Easter weekend, with a half-price discount for children. What better way could there be to spend this Easter with the family?

Breakthru Films have a very interesting current film slate including a film based on the legend of Cuchulainn; an animated biopic of Vincent Van Gogh and the forthcoming The Flying Machine starring Lang Lang and Heather Graham (Austin Powers, The Hangover).
