United Kingdom fruit juice production market value reached £1.6bn in 2013

Press Release   •   Dec 17, 2013 11:03 GMT

Testament to the state of the UK fruit juice market over recent years, the leading companies are seeking new ways and product developments to drive growth in an industry sector which has reported significant falls in revenue during the period 2008 to 2011. Recent years have report a slight improvement from the period when sales were declining during the height of the economic recession although growth rates have remained low. During the period 2008 to 2013, the UK fruit juice market reported only growth rates of 0.8% CAGR.

The leading companies in the fruit juice market have investment more funds into developing new product ranges and in line with more confident revenue figures and forecasts, Del Monte have just introduced a new fruit juice range which targets a new niche in the UK fruit juice market. Del Monte’s Fruit Burst products are targeting children aged between 7 to 13 years old and of course their mums.

The flavours are aimed to appeal to children – blends such as pineapple and raspberry and cherry and lime. The products have 15% juice and also include a vitamin blend which creates the unique selling point for the brand - B5,B6,B12 and folic acid have been added to help combat tiredness and fatigue. This helps learning and gives stamina to growing brains. The products also have no added sugar which is high on a parents list of important attributes for a juice drink.

Other companies are set to follow with the introduction of new fruit juice ranges to improve revenue growth in a relatively saturated and stagnant fruit juice market.

The UK fruit juice market is expected to report revenues of £1.6 billion in 2013, representing a decline in revenues of 0.8% during the period 2008 to 2013. The UK consumer is drinking far less fruit juice per capita than other developed countries and so this factor, combined with a stronger economy is forecast to drive higher growth in revenues within the fruit juice market over the next few years. By the end of 2018, the UK fruit juice market is forecast to total £1.8 billion.
