Wellbore Intervention gears up for key oil and gas event in Aberdeen

Press Release   •   Nov 15, 2010 14:30 GMT

Wellbore Intervention Ltd is looking to maintain the momentum behind its international business growth as it takes part in its first major industry event this week. (Nov 17/18)

The specialist independent company is exhibiting at the 16th SPE ICoTA European Well Intervention Round Table at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on November 17 and 18. The company will be showcasing its products and services at Stand 7 at the event.

Wellbore Intervention – which began operations in January this year – is already established in the UK offshore sector and has provided services to clients in the Ukraine, Siberia, Germany, Africa and Colombia. It has also secured an 18-month deal to provide engineering support for a Middle East coiled tubing drilling project.

“This is our first opportunity to showcase our services and products to the wider industry and we are confident it will provide extra impetus to our international growth strategy,” says managing director Jim Thomson.

“We’re delighted to be ahead of our first-year expectations in terms of the breadth of our customer base. We believe that is down to a growing recognition of the quality of our products and services and the experience of our team.”

Presently employing five full-time staff, Wellbore Intervention is recruiting at least four additional engineers to support field and onshore operations.

Wellbore Intervention is also making significant investment in additional rental tool and equipment inventory, including the latest generation of mobile, lightweight hydraulic torque units for coiled tubing and slimhole pipe operations.

The company is also progressing with several technology developments which it aims to introduce by the end of this year.

Wellbore Intervention provides a complete thru-tubing intervention service including job design and project management services; sales, service and rental of thru-tubing fishing, milling and cutting tools and bespoke tool design, engineering and manufacturing.

Based at Kinellar, near Blackburn, on the outskirts of Aberdeen, the business was established by company directors Jim Thomson, Scott Fraser and Barry Webster – who among them possess 60 years’ international experience in coiled tubing, thru-tubing and well intervention services.
