Top Tips For UK Festival Goers in 2013

Asda Money highlights figures which show that the UK is nation of dedicated festival goers, with 29%1 of festival attendees in 2012 also planning to attend a music festival in the same year.

In fact, consumers are so keen to see their favourite bands in the vibrant atmosphere of a music festival, that almost half (45%1) argued that the economic climate would have no impact on the number of festivals they attend each year.

With 2013’s festival calendar packed with key events such as Glastonbury, Reading and the V Festival Asda Money offers some top tips for a UK festival.

Make sure you’re happy with your accommodation

Not all of us are happy sleeping under the stars with nothing but a pop-up tent between us and the elements, and some festival goers may be prepared to go the extra mile when it comes to ensuring that they’ll be comfortable in their accommodation. This could include sleeping on an airbed, luxuriating in a four-man tent when there are only two of you or booking a few nights in a hotel near to the festival site.

Come prepared

Whatever the weather, it’s essential that you put a few key items on your festival packing list. This could include a rollup waterproof mac and a pair of wellingtons to see you through rainy days, and a hygiene kit including face, body wipes, hand sanitizer and even loo roll to ensure that you stay fresh, even if onsite toilet and shower facilities are looking less than their best.

Get an idea of the line-up before you head off

Having a full idea of the festival line up before you go, will ensure that you are able to organise your festival timetable in advance and that you don’t miss out on any of your favourite music acts; particularly as some acts may be scheduled at the same time in different parts of the festival site.

Everything in moderation

While it may be tempting to completely let loose when you attend a festival, it is important not to throw our regular drinking and eating habits out of the window the moment you attend the festival site. Drinking plenty of water, and getting the occasional good night’s sleep means you’ll be raring to go both night and day.

Finding a cheap travel insurance quote could help to meet the cost of pre-booked accommodation, transport charges and travel expenses we have agreed to pay as part of our festival trip, in the event that you cannot attend.
