F.A.S.T Global Marketing details a guide to cope with workplace stress

Miami based direct marketing and sales F.A.S.T Global Marketing understands that workplace stress is a modern epidemic. A recent study has shown that over one-third of American workers experience chronic work stress, this equates to around $300 billion a year in lost work hours and medical bills. Workplace stress is often inevitable, and if professionals are suffering, they are far from alone.

F.A.S.T Global Marketing: About the firm.

Some of the most common causes of workplace stress include:

  • Too much work: People find themselves saying: “There are not enough hours in the day!”
  • The job is too easy, not challenging or inspiring: This is where boredom comes in to play
  • Pressure from co-workers or lack of social support: Colleagues are not helpful or only care about their own tasks.
  • Little praise and lots of criticism: this is where a lousy manager uses constant criticism to ‘try’ to motivate individuals.
  • Very demanding or competitive working culture: Sales departments often fit this category.

It’s widely understood that stress brings with it some issues. When stressed the body releases hormones and for extended periods of time can cause an increase in physical aging. In addition to that stress also has a significant influence on brain function - negatively hampering the impact of individuals daily performance.

F.A.S.T Global Marketing has devised a list of ways to cope with workplace stress. First and foremost it's important to set aside time to plan. Often, work becomes too much because people start to fall behind, due to the stress of finding time to complete all the tasks within a day. Instead of stressing out while trying to catch up, time would be much better spent on thinking about goals and how to prioritize tasks.

For example, if the initial goal is to get back on track with work, take ten minutes at the beginning of the day and think about how to achieve this. In doing so its likely that individuals will be able to come up with tasks that need to be completed in order to reach their end goal. Once the tasks and goals are clear in mind, it will be easier to think about starting the second step.

Secondly, it's essential to align tasks with goals. Just understanding goals and associated tasks are not enough. Most individuals get to this stage but often find themselves still falling behind with their work and fail to attain their desired goals. The key is to understand which tasks are high priorities and those that can be tackled later on down the line. For example, people often check their inbox far to regularly, and they might feel they're productive, but in fact, it's a constant distraction and often wastes time. Set aside a specific period to check emails, it will save more time in the long run.

Further methods for handling stress can be taking a mindful approach to health. One of the most ironic aspects of stress is that it can put healthier habits on the back burner. It is incredibly important to maintain and improve health; it will help keep pressure under control. Eating healthier foods can do this; these will help the body optimally cope with stress mechanisms. Exercise regularly; endorphins are released when the body undergoes physical exercise. Furthermore, it creates a distraction and helps get thoughts back on track.
