Press release -

Painted animation feature film about the life and mysterious death of Vincent Van Gogh goes into pre-production

Oscar-winning film company, Breakthru Films, has gone into pre-production on an animated re-telling of the life of Vincent Van Gogh entitled LOVING VINCENT, which takes the form of a murder mystery.

“Well, the truth is, we cannot speak other than by our paintings,”
wrote Vincent Van Gogh in his final letter.

Loving Vincent is a film that is true to this deathbed testament, and explores the intense mind of this towering genius through his own paintings. Every frame of the 80-minute film will be a painting: totally an output of 57,600 individual oil paintings, painted by a team of 30 painters, led by Polish painter-director, Dorota Kobiela. The film is set to be a vivid and intense celebration of the work of Vincent Van Gogh, bringing to life some of his best-known works of art.

The concept trailer for the film will be presented at Cannes Film Festival, May 2012.
