British Sleddog Dryland Racing Team competing for the first time in the IFSS World Dryland Championships in Canada Oct 2015

For the first time in the history of Sled Dog Sport in the UK, the British Sleddog Sports Federation (BSSF) will be selecting a team to compete over in Canada in the International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS) World Dryland Championships. The World Dryland Championships are being held in Quebec, Canada on 31 Oct/01 Nov 2015.

Athletes & their canine teammates will be formally selected by the BSSF Council having entered qualifying races in Scotland and England to represent Great Britain.

The Athletes don’t need snow, this is dryland racing! An exciting, fast and furious sport where teams compete in their respective sprint classes using 3 or 4 wheeled rigs, Canicross (running on foot), Scooters and Bikes all pulled by teams of between 1 to 8 sled dogs! Sled Dog Sport has been on the go in the UK for more than 25 years and there are in excess of 500 competitive teams currently throughout the UK.

There are three types of dog classes;
Open: Any breed capable of competing as per the IFSS rule
Registered Nordic Breed: Siberian Husky
Registered Nordic Breed Other: Alaskan Malamute, Greenland & Samoyed

BSSF & the team are dependent on sponsorship to get to Canada so are offering sponsorship packages to enable businesses to support the Great Britain Sleddog Team.

The full qualifying team will be announced at the end of May 2015.

British Sleddog Sports Federation (BSSF). A Historic development for Sled Dog Sports in the UK. Created by a cross section of athletes from various disciplines of sled dog sports, all working towards a common goal, the BSSF was formed as the new UK Federation for the promotion & enhancement of international sports & racing for UK sled dog teams.
