Spurs star Harry Kane joins BT's sporting team

England and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has signed up to become a BT Ambassador. He will feature in TV adverts for the new BT Sport channels as well as appearing as a guest on football shows.

Kane, 22, became one of the hottest properties in the Barclays Premier League last season by scoring 31 goals, including 21 in the Premier League, as well as scoring within 79 seconds on his England debut.

The young forward will star in BT Sport marketing for the channels, which this season will show 351 exclusively live games from the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Kane will be leading the line for Tottenham, as they embark on their European campaign in the Europa League.

Kane, who was last season’s PFA Young Player of the Year, joins an illustrious band of BT Sport Ambassadors, led by former Spurs legend Gareth Bale, Rio Ferdinand, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

Kane said: “Last season was an incredible one for me and I am hoping to build on that this season for both Spurs and England. I am delighted to become a BT Ambassador and honoured to join the likes of Gareth Bale in the line-up.

“BT Sport is going to be showing an incredible programme of games this year, including 38 games in the Barclays Premier League and all the live European football. I hope Spurs can make it even better by going a long way in the UEFA Europa League.”

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “Harry’s emergence from Spurs youngster to one of the most prolific and feared strikers in the Barclays Premier League was one of the great stories of last season.

“We are naturally thrilled to be working with Harry and to be associated with his amazing breakthrough. The Spurs fans relate to him as one of their own and we believe he will be an excellent ambassador for BT and that viewers will like his grounded and humble character.”

BT Sport recently launched a new channel, BT Sport Europe, and will show exclusively live matches from the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

The company has also launched Europe’s first ultra HD sports channel, BT Sport Ultra HD, which allows customers to enjoy sports in very high quality 4K filming. The first live broadcast was the FA Community Shield from Wembley on August 2, which saw Arsenal defeat Chelsea 1-0.
