A weekend of Fun Palaces at your local library

Head down to your local library on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October to see what fun you can have investigating science and the arts.

All of Bury's libraries which are open this weekend will be hosting 'Fun Palace' events, and all of them are free.

The libraries will be screening a virtual craft session with Professor Jigget, so why not drop into your local branch and join in?

Saturday 1 October

  • All libraries (am and pm) - join our virtual craft session with Professor Jigget.

  • Prestwich Library (10am to 12.30pm) - jungle themed story time and face painting.

  • Whitefield Library (11.30am to 12.30pm) - join author Susan Sollazzi for a short story writing workshop. Places are limited and must be booked by calling 0161 253 7510.

  • Bury Library (am and pm) - learn how to draw a Dalek or K9 and take a selfie with your creation.

  • Bury Library (1pm to 3pm) - get up close to real models inspired by the Dr Who television series and meet the man who built them.

    Sunday 2 October

  • Prestwich and Moorside libraries (10am-1pm) - another chance to join virtual craft session with Professor Jigget.

  • Prestwich Library (11am) - drop in to work with the mad scientist Professor Jigget himself at Prestwich library. “Via an instructional film event, participants will be given the opportunity to dispel the barrier between our world and the world of magic in order for them to find documents and items that explore the links between common trees and plants and their faerie counterparts. It is a chance to learn about ecology and plant identification through the lens of storytelling and imagination.”

  • Moorside Library (10am to 1pm) – story time and crafting session with Louise. Make a simple animation with your own thaumatrope.
