Press release -
Bin changes are top of agenda for township forum
Changes to the way household waste is collected will be outlined when Prestwich Township Forum meets on Wednesday 17 September.
Senior representatives from Bury Council will be at the Longfield Suite to explain the new system, which starts in October and aims to boost recycling and reduce the amount of waste currently being put in the ‘grey’ bins.
A busy agenda will also include a Healthier Together consultation, which looks at improving health services provided at GP surgeries, in the community and in hospital. Spokesmen from NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (NHS Bury CCG) will summarise the proposals and gather feedback from people living in Prestwich.
There will also be updates from the police and on the Township Plan, which looks at local priorities identified by the Prestwich community. Prestwich Heritage Society will also give details of proposals for St Mary's Flower Park, and there will be an update on funding opportunities for local groups.
Councillor Paddy Heneghan, forum chairman, said: “This is a busy agenda, full of issues that are of great importance to Prestwich people. I encourage everyone to come along and play a part in shaping our neighbourhood.”
The meeting starts at 6.30pm, and will include the usual Open Forum for residents to ask questions on any local issues.
