Bury Art Shop shortlisted for national award

Bury Art Shop is making its name on the national stage after being shortlisted for a Museums & Heritage award.

Based in Bury Art Museum, it boasts a main shop upstairs with fine art pieces and a downstairs foyer shop selling cards and gifts.

Visitors can buy a wide range of artworks from independent makers and artists from across the North West and further afield. The shop stocks fine arts and crafts, including paintings, prints, ceramics and jewellery; a large selection of artist-designed cards; and an impressive range of art museum mementoes such as postcards, books and catalogues.

Bury Art Shop is open while the museum is open: Tuesday to Friday, 10am to pm, and on Saturday from 10am to 4.30pm. Follow at @BuryArtShop

The awards ceremony is on 16 May and Bury has been shortlisted in the Best Shop Under £500k category. It is up against National Museums Liverpool; Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, Exeter; Brontë Parsonage Museum; and Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, The University of Manchester.

Councillor Judith Kelly, cabinet member for corporate affairs and regulatory services, said: “Bury Art Shop is a fabulous treasure trove, which supports local and independent artists and has something for everyone. It fully deserves to be shortlisted for a national award and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for the finals.”
