Christmas and New Year bin collection dates

Residents are being advised of changes to household waste collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

Some collections are unchanged but some have been re-scheduled to take place a day earlier than usual, and some a day later than usual. Leaflets detailing the changes are being delivered to all households.

Residents can subscribe to e-mail reminders and check which bins are due to emptied at www.bury.gov.uk/bincollections.  Or they can refer to their  calendar.

Christmas and New Year collections are planned as follows:

  

  • Monday 22 December - No change
  •  
  • Tuesday 23 December - Changed to Monday 22 December
  •  
  • Wednesday 24 December – Changed to Tuesday 23 December
  •  
  • Thursday 25 December – Changed to Wednesday 24 December
  •  
  • Friday 26 December – Changed to Saturday 27 December
  •  
  • Monday 29 December – No change
  •  
  • Tuesday 30 December - No change
  •  
  • Wednesday 31 December - No change
  •  
  • Thursday 1 January – Changed to Friday 2 January
  •  
  • Friday 2 January – Changed to Saturday 3 January

All bins should be out for collection by 7am on collection day and householders are asked to make sure they park vehicles where they will not obstruct collection vehicles. Bin lids should be fully closed and there should be no extra bags of waste. 

Household waste recycling centres across Greater Manchester, where extra household waste can be taken, will be open every day (except 25 December and 1 January) between 8am and 6pm.
