​Come on Bury, let’s get together for the family fun run!

Arena Owl joined the summer sports camp at Castle Leisure Centre to encourage the young participants to get involved in the free-to-enter Arena Group Bury Family Fun Run on Sunday 15 September 2019.

The run, organised by Run for All, is accessible, approximately 1.4k in length, and open to anyone aged 3 or over to enter. The route starts and ends at The Rock in Bury town centre and all participants receive a well-deserved medal and goody bag at the finish. The run will start at 11:45am, after the Asda Foundation Bury 10k has finished.

Pritesh Patel from Bury Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Service said: “This free event is a great opportunity for families to enjoy some family time together.

“You don’t have to be a seasoned runner to take part, everyone can give it a go. It’s perfectly OK to run part of the route and walk the rest, or walk all the way if you want to. Families can do whatever works best for them. We just want families to come out in force, get moving and enjoy themselves.

“Children aged 3 to 8 must be accompanied by an adult but youngsters aged 9 and above can take part with friends or classmates if they prefer.”

Run For All is part of Jane Tomlinson’s lasting legacy. Jane Tomlinson CBE raised £1.85m for children’s and cancer charities before her untimely death from cancer aged just 43 in 2007. She made headlines across the world by competing in a series of epic endurance challenges from the London Marathon, ironman and triathlon competitions, to a 4,200 mile cycle ride across the width of the USA – despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Her family continue to raise funds in her name, and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal has to date raised a massive £10 million.
