Conservatives win Tottington by-election

The Conservatives won tonight’s (Thursday 22 October) by-election in Tottington which was held following the resignation of Labour councillor Simon Carter.

The result:

  • David Foss (Liberal Democrats)...87
  • Martin Hayes (Labour Party)...619
  • Ian Henderson (UK Independence Party (UKIP))...198
  • Greg Keeley (The Conservative Party Candidate)...1,046
  • John Southworth (The Green Party)...54

Turnout was 25.88%. The line-up on Bury Council is now: Labour 34 seats, Conservatives 13, Liberal Democrats 2, Green 1, and Independent 1.
