Consultation meeting to discuss children’s centre plans

Residents are invited to a consultation meeting about Bury Council’s proposals to reshape children’s centres.

Parents, carers, users and potential users of children’s centres can attend the meeting, which is on Thursday 4 December at Bury Town Hall, starting at 6pm.

The council is redesigning its children’s centres to focus on the most needy under-5s and their families, and to ensure that hundreds of 2-year-olds receive the free nursery care they are now legally entitled to.

Councillor Gill Campbell, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “This is an opportunity for current and future service users to listen to the proposals, ask questions and offer ideas, suggestions, and opinions about how the new model could look. All views will be incorporated into the final report after the consultation ends on 15 December.”

People who wish to attend the consultation meeting are asked to call Wendy Hatcliffe on 0161 253 5715 to help with planning for the event.
