Press release -

Don’t sling it, recycle it this spring

Recycle for Greater Manchester would like to encourage residents to recycle more and donate unwanted re-usable items during their annual spring clean.

So whether you are clearing out your wardrobe, doing a spot of DIY or even replacing electrical appliances or furniture, don’t forget to make a trip to your Recycling Centre.

If you have a washing machine or dining table in good condition, you can donate it at a Recycling Centre with a community re-use scheme.  462 large electrical appliances and 9,847 items of furniture were donated for re-use last year alone.

To help residents make the most of their spring clean, Recycling Centres across Greater Manchester are staying open for longer. From Sunday 30th March, most Recycling Centres will be open from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week including Bank Holidays (Except Salford Road, Over Hulton).

Recycle for Greater Manchester have a network of 20 Recycling Centres which accept up to 23 types of materials.

Councillor Neil Swannick, Chair of Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority, said: “As well as recycling at home, residents can recycle even more at any one of our 20 Recycling Centres which accept a wide range of materials from carpets to TVs. Also the addition of re-use schemes it means residents can donate and recycle items all in one place.”
