Eco-art is winning display

Schools in Bury have been taking part in an eco-art project to show their commitment to recycling and
sustainability.

Students at Holly Mount RC Primary School and St Gabriel’s RC High School worked to produce an exhibition which has been shown in the Mill Gate centre and at Bury Town Hall outside the chamber.

The initiative with Holly Mount was a workshop for gifted and talented artists at Key Stage 2 on the theme of developing eco-art using inspiration from the St Gabriel’s HENE (Horticultural, Environment, Nature and Enterprise) Centre and Bury landscapes.

Pupils from Years 4 and 5 worked with Year 9 pupils to create new works from recycled materials using a range of collage techniques. The display and partnership work is now part of their bid to achieve the Arts Mark for curriculum developments that make a major impact on pupils’ learning in the school.
