Free: Upcycled fashion show at Museum of Science and Industry

On Thursday 27th November, Recycle for Greater Manchester’s award- winning upcycled fashion show ‘Rethink Fashion’ will be taking place at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Collections featuring at the show include designs by:  Adnan Bayyat, Junk Shop, Pop Boutique, Students from Manchester College and Manchester Metropolitan University, and upcycled outfits from pupils attending Manor Green Primary School, Denton and Dane Bank Primary School, Stockport and many more.

There will also be exhibitions and stalls including designs by Emmaus Mossley, Junk Shop, Penny
Cooke, Pop Boutique, Stitched Up, and interactive stalls like ‘make do and mend’ where you can bring an item of clothing from home to be re-styled for free.

The evening will also include performances by the award- winning Ri Ri’s Dance Academy.

Wendy Wilson, Campaigns Officer, Recycle for Greater Manchester said:  “This is the fourth year of the fashion show and we hope the show inspires residents to rethink fashion by upcycling and making the most of their wardrobe.  Every year, in the UK, a staggering 350 thousand tonnes of clothes worth £140 million end up in the bin that could have been re-used or recycled instead.”

Dan Keyworth-Clark, Director for Junk Shop, said: “We are excited to be part of the fashion show
again this year.”

Charlotte Keyworth-Clark Creative Director for Junk Shop, added: “It allows us to work with local designers to showcase the possibilities of upcycling and the incredible talent that is right on our doorstep.”

The fashion show is open for bookings from Monday 27th October. Book your free place online at www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com/fashion
