Press release -

Funding support for Bury’s new start-up businesses

After a successful 12 month pilot scheme, Bury Council is proud to sponsor the Made in Bury Business Academy 2017/18, delivered by thebestofbury.

Businesses trading for less than two years in May are invited to come along to a meeting on Wednesday 25 April (5.30pm to 6.30pm) at Europa House, Barcroft Street, Bury, BL9 5LY.

At this meeting businesses will learn about the modules to be covered over the next 12 months and hear from some of the businesses that have successfully completed the start-up programme.

Application forms will be available at the meeting and interested businesses are asked to apply for one of the 20 places available.

The course starts in June and runs for 12 months, meeting twice a month for two hours each time.

Councillor Rishi Shori, leader of Bury Council, said: “Supporting new local businesses is a key priority for Bury Council. The long-term sustainability of Bury’s economy depends upon its ability to stimulate entrepreneurial activity, and new business start-ups have a huge part to play. I am delighted to support the Made in Bury Business Academy and look forward to seeing the fruits of its work in terms of employment, investment and creativity.”

Here’s what Rick Law from Shooting Stars Football Academy had to say about his involvement with the programme:

“The Made in Bury Business Academy has been incredible for Shooting Stars Football Academy. Every session is well structured, organised and thought provoking and I have learned something important every meeting that I have been able to successfully apply to the business. The academy has armed me with the tools to build a solid foundation for growth and longevity and I can't thank everyone enough.”
