General Election - make sure you’re registered to vote
Bury residents are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote ahead of this year’s General Election.
Voters will go to the polls on Thursday 7 May to elect an MP for Bury’s two constituencies, Bury North and Bury South. Local elections will also take place on the same day.
With fewer than 40 days to go, the Electoral Commission has launched its national voter registration campaign to remind people to register by 20 April.
Mike Owen, director of resources and regulation at Bury Council, said: “Time is running out to make sure that you can take part in the elections, so I’d encourage everyone in Bury to register to vote if they haven’t already. Our message is simple; you can’t vote if you’re not registered.”
