Get online with a Memory Lane Digital Tour

Bury Council, Six Town Housing and Unison have joined forces to put on a magical mystery digital tour with a difference.

As part of National Go Online fortnight, they want to bring new life to people’s golden oldie memories with a little help from technology.

The digital tour will take you on a journey of discovery from researching your family tree to downloading your golden oldie favourite music tracks, “Let’s Twist Again”. Or you could drop in to a basic learner session and discover how to use smart phones, tablets and laptops.

Our Tour Guide Special:

  • Family History Online Session - Monday 2 March. Get connected and stay connected with old school friends and family. Learn how to scan and save your old photos treasuring your life memories, search your family tree online, listen to your favourite golden oldies by downloading music at our Memory Lane session at Chesham Fold Community Centre between 10am and 1pm. Bury Library are running a Family History Online session from 2pm to 4pm. Learn how to research your family history online using census data, as well as, birth, marriage and death records. Discover how to view old images and maps of Bury and how to view old copies of the Bury Times. Book your place at Bury Library by calling 0161 253 7089.
  • Jargon Buster Drop-in Sessions - Tuesday 3 March. For complete beginners. From turning on a tablet, phone and laptop, to charging, sending emails, taking photos, searching, downloading, uploading and streaming. Free internet access available. Join our Jargon Buster sessions at Bury Library between 10am and 3pm and at the Benefits Office, Whittaker Street between 10am and noon.
  • Bring Your Memories Alive Drop-in Sessions - Wednesday 4 March. Get connected and stay connected with old school friends and family. Learn how search your family tree online, listen to your favourite golden oldies by downloading music. The Staying Well Team will be on hand to provide support with health, well-being, personal independence and social life. At the ‘Digital Hub’ in the Benefits Office, Whittaker Street - ‘Bring Your Memories Alive’session between 10am and 3pm.

From turning on a tablet, phone and laptop, to charging, sending emails, taking photos, searching, downloading, uploading and streaming. Free internet access available. Join our Jargon Buster sessions at Bury Unison Office, Knowsley Street between 10am and 1pm and Bury Town Hall, Knowsley Street between 2pm and 4pm.
  • ‘Just Ask’ Drop-In Sessions - Friday 6 March. You can browse with free internet access, ask a question and staff will be on hand to help between 10am and 3pm at Bury Library and the Benefits Office, Whittaker Street, Radcliffe.
