Invite to businesses for Backing Young Bury showcase

Local businesses are being invited to get involved in a Backing Young Bury Career and Skills event held this autumn.

Can you offer people aged 13-16 the opportunity to ‘Have a Go’ at a typical workplace task? Are you keen to attract the next generation of young people to your organisation? Do you struggle to recruit young people with the right skills and attributes for your business?

If the answer to any of these questions is ‘yes’, then Bury Council would like you to exhibit at the Backing Young Bury Career and Skills event to be held at St Gabriel’s RC High School on Tuesday 10 November 20 between 9am and 4pm.

The event aims to encourage and motivate young people to think about their career choice and the world of work through interactive demonstrations. It offers them the chance to discover what they are good at and what they enjoy, and discuss directly with businesses the skills and attributes sought by employers when recruiting.

Employers have the opportunity to showcase their business, meet training providers, show their commitment to education and skills, and inspire a new generation. All businesses will receive publicity after the event, with information about their organisation going to more than 500 high school students.

Any businesses interested in taking part should email backingyoungbury@bury.gov.uk or call 0161 253 6140.
