Press release -
Market traders open for business on Radcliffe Piazza
Traders have now set up shop on Radcliffe Piazza while major refurbishment works are carried out to Radcliffe Market Hall.
The container stalls have been purpose built to provide the market traders with secure units from which they can trade until their new home is ready in November 2014. The containers have been fitted with roller shutters and power and water based on the individual trader’s needs.
To add a bit of colour, the council is talking to Radcliffe Carnival Committee about creating images to decorate the outside of the containers.
Beth Tramayne, who runs a sweet stall, said: “We are thrilled that Radcliffe is getting the attention it deserves, and are especially pleased and excited about the smooth transition from the market to our cabins outside. Radcliffe is a lovely place with lovely people and, with the market refurbishment going on, hopefully for Radcliffe there are exciting times ahead.”
Councillor Mike Connolly, leader of Bury Council, said: “We are committed to investing in Radcliffe, and the market refurbishment is just one element of this. We hope the new temporary market on the Piazza will be the start of seeing many more shoppers making use of what is a fantastic facility.”
