New plan to support the borough’s unpaid carers

Press release -

New plan to support the borough’s unpaid carers

The many carers who support needy and vulnerable people are invited to a launch event in Bury on Wednesday 2 October.

Adult Care Services and their partners are holding the Carers Matter – The Plan For Bury event, in the Mill Gate centre from 11am.

A carer is anyone of any age who, unpaid, supports someone who is either disabled, has a life affecting illness, is frail due to their age, or has a substance misuse problem, where the person being supported could not manage without that help.

The event will focus on four themes: Identification and Recognition, Realising and Releasing Potential, A Life Outside of Caring, Supporting Carers to Stay Healthy. The Mayor of Bury will be there, and there will be information stands, health advice and entertainment throughout the day.

Councillor Rishi Shori, cabinet member for adult care, health and housing, said: “Carers are often the unsung heroes of our society, and we rely on them so much to meet the needs of thousands of people in Bury. Please come along to the Carers Matter event and see what services are available to help you.”
