Press release -

Nurses go high tech to improve patient care

Nurses in Bury are using a high tech approach to keep connected and improve patient care.

NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has launched a dedicated online portal to allow nurses working in the 33 GP practices within Bury to keep in touch and up to date.

The secure online portal will enable nursing colleagues to share good practice and support each other; access learning and development opportunities to keep them up to date; read the latest news and developments and encourage them to be more involved in shaping improvements in care for the benefit of their patients.

The online portal is just one of a number of innovative ways that NHS Bury CCG aims to keep nursing colleagues in primary care in touch and connected.  From this month, a new regular E-Newsletter will drop straight into nurses in boxes; and a new regular face to face forum has been established to up skill nurses and bring about improvements in care.

NHS Bury CCG’s Practice Nurse Facilitator Lesley Royle-Pryor said: “Nursing colleagues play a vital role in the care provided for patients within GP practices, but the role can be quiet isolating in that they don’t always have the chance of working closely with their peers. Our new online tool aims to go someway to bridging that gap.  It will help to keep our primary care nurses linked up and in touch.  Wherever they are, they will be able to log in and link up with peers, share good practice, get the latest on learning opportunities and ensure they have a chance to shape service developments for the benefit of local patients.”
