Paul conquers the Bury Leisure Tour de France challenge

Keen sportsmen and women got on their bike in a Tour de France themed challenge organised by Bury Council’s leisure services.

To celebrate the famous race starting in Yorkshire, Bury Leisure set its members a task – to walk, run or cycle 190km, the equivalent of the first stage of the Tour de France.

Although the riders in the Tour covered this distance in a single day, the Bury athletes were given the whole month of July to reach their target. Distances were recorded on a log sheet and these were handed to one of the gym instructors to be entered into a prize draw.

The winner was Paul Mills of Tottington, who was presented with his prize, an iPod shuffle, at Castle
Leisure Centre.
