Press release -

Planners get tough on those who break the rules

Bury planners are leading the way in taking action against those who break the regulations or build without permission.

The council served 57 enforcement notices in the last 12 months, far more than any other local authority in Greater Manchester. The figure is the 12th highest in England, and the fourth highest if London boroughs are excluded.

A Bury Council spokesman said: “It’s important for our borough that planning regulations are followed. We are very pro-active and we work with residents and businesses to resolve problems when they arise, but these figures show that we are ready to take action when required.”
