Say ‘cheers’ to recycling at the Euro footie finals

Sports fans are being urged to give recycling a boost during the upcoming UEFA 2016 football championships.

Thousands of drinks cans and bottles are expected to be raised in Bury throughout June and July while the finals take place in France, especially with three UK countries taking part plus the Republic of Ireland.

Waste bosses at Bury Council are reminding supporters that every one of these steel and aluminium cans and glass bottles can be recycled in your blue bin.

Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, said: “I’d urge everyone to cheer on England - before we go out on penalties and adopt a second team (I’ve got France in the works sweepstake) - and boost our recycling figures by putting all your cans and bottles in the blue bin.

“Remember, you can crush your drinks cans to make more space in the bins – and don’t forget that those half-eaten pizzas can go in the brown bin the morning after the match.”
