Wiggle Walk raises cash for needy youngsters

Toddlers helped to raise money for disadvantaged children by taking part in the national Giant Wiggle Walk.

Some 25 members of Bury Library’s Storytime group made a caterpillar conga line through the town centre and raised more than £100 for Action for Children.

The Wiggle Walk takes its name from the UK’s most read and much loved storybook, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.

Action for Children supports 1.5 million youngsters in the UK who may be suffering from neglect or abuse. Projects range from helping children with learning difficulties to develop language skills, breakfast clubs, arts and crafts sessions in family centres, anti-bullying workshops in primary schools, intensive work to prevent a vulnerable child being taken into care, supporting mothers with post-natal depression, and buying sensory equipment to calm and stimulate severely disabled children.
