Young market traders raise money for charity

The award-winning Bury Market welcomed its latest batch of young traders for a day’s fund-raising for local good causes.

The three lads were taking part in the trade-up programme run by the Greater Manchester Youth Network, which provides business training to young disabled people and gives them the opportunity to gain some direct trading experience.

The trio - Robert Higgins, Ryan Sergeant and Jake Whittaker - decided to make T-shirts and candles
and sell them on the market. Proceeds will go Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and a Manchester food bank.

Andrew Heyes, markets manager, said: “We were delighted to meet the young traders, who said they really enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere on the market. We wish them all the best in their future careers.”
