Your Health, Your Radcliffe, Our Place – Funding Boost

Local community groups have been given an opportunity to bid for grant funding through the Radcliffe ‘Our Place’ initiative.

Applicants can apply for community grants of up to £1,500, with a total of £7,000 up for grabs.

The ‘Our Place’ initiative is about working together to improve health and wellbeing through community-led initiatives and projects that put local people in control.

The community themselves will vote on how this money is spent at a local community event to be held on 19 March, 7pm at Radcliffe Civic Suite. Anyone who lives or works in Radcliffe is welcome to attend this event and have their say.

The vision for ‘Our Place’ developed by local residents following two community events is that “Local people can improve their own health and wellbeing and that of those around them and are continually involved in improving health and care services”.

Projects must contribute to delivering this vision in the Radcliffe area.

Colin Jones, chair of Radcliffe Township Forum, said: “We are open to considering a wide range of innovative and creative projects that involve working with local people to improve overall health and wellbeing. This can include anything from healthy eating or fitness classes, community events focusing on health and wellbeing or initiatives with local volunteers.”

Closing date for applications is 4pm on 6 March 2015. You must also be able to attend the Participatory Budgeting Event on Thursday 19 March 2015, 7pm at Radcliffe Civic Suite, and talk about your project for up to three minutes.

To request an application pack or for further information call Radcliffe township co-ordinator Christine Maksymowski on 0161 253 7941 or email C.Maksymowski@bury.gov.uk
