Press release -

Youth invited to discuss Europe and refugees

Young people are invited to the council chamber in Bury Town Hall to share their views on the upcoming EU referendum and the refugee crisis.

The event has been organised by Bury Youth Cabinet and takes place on Thursday 16 June from 4pm to 5.45pm.

It is open to anyone aged 11-19 who lives or studies in Bury. They will take part in a series of activities designed to help them think about issues and work out their own views about the EU referendum and the refugee crisis. The young people will then take part in two debates: one on whether Britain should leave or stay in the EU, and one on whether we should do more to support refugees. At the end of each debate there will be a vote. If there is time, young people will be given the opportunity to choose a third debate topic.

For further information call Heather Walton or Lisa Wilson on 0161 253 7165 or 07900 188695 or email h.walton@bury.gov.uk.
