London, 21st February, 2012: Canonical today unveiled Ubuntu for Android, bringing the world’sfavourite free desktop experience to multi-core Android smartphones docked with a keyboard andmonitor. Use Android on the phone and Ubuntu as your desktop, both running simultaneously onthe same device, with seamless sharing of contacts, messages and other common services.

Canonical today announced the addition of books and magazines to the Ubuntu Software Center with new content from partners Pearson Technology Group and Linux New Media. The Ubuntu Software Center brings together free and commercial applications, tools and games available for users.

Canonical today announced it would be extending the support and maintenance period for its upcoming Long Term Support (LTS) release of Ubuntu for desktop users from three years to five years.
