CFTE Announces the first online Open Banking Course

London, 23 October 2019 – The Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) has announced the creation of its next reference course: “Open Banking in Finance” in front of 3,000 participants during Finance Montréal’s FinTech Forum.

The course features insights, key fundamentals and real-life case studies contributed by over 20 finance and technology thought leaders and insiders, highlighting how Open Banking is reshaping the finance industry worldwide. The accredited course updates finance professionals and technologists on the Open Banking opportunity and will create an online community of learners and experts in Open Banking to connect and network for future collaborations.

“After a successful partnership last year, I am delighted to see CFTE and Finance Montréal working together again this year,” said Huy Nguyen Trieu, co-founder of CFTE.

“We are very excited and looking forward to the synergy and opportunities we can create together for the Canadian market.”

The announcement of the new course in Canada reflects the readiness and the opportunities within the local market. In September 2018, Canada’s Department of Finance established an Advisory Committee to explore the potential and pitfalls of Open Banking for consumers.

It was found that younger Canadians are more interested in Open Banking than older peers, and would share their financial data if they would benefit in return. For Canadian financial institutions, the context favours the development of innovative solutions in partnership with Fintech firms and other specialists.

“By bringing together the world’s best practices, this CFTE initiative contributes to our fintech ecosystem development,” said Matthieu Cardinal, Finance Montréal’s Vice President, FinTech Development and Corporate Affairs.

“It also supports our members’ digital transformation and customer experience efforts.”

The partnership with Finance Montreal is the latest milestone in a series of top-tier collaborations by CFTE. This follows the launch of a Programme of AI in Finance in the Middle East with ADGM and the world’s First Fintech Campus in London with Level39.
