CFTE was appointed by Hong Kong Cyberport to launch Fintech training programme

London, 6 November 2019 – Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) is delighted to announce that it has been appointed to be the training partner of Hong Kong Cyberport FinTech Training programme. This initiative, stated in the 2019 HKSAR Government Policy Address, aims to upskill over 1,500 in-service financial practitioners in 2020. During this period, CFTE will design and operate over 30 training courses with alternating teaching format, including ‘FinTech Foundation Seminars’ and ‘Deep Dive Workshop’.

The topics selected are combining ease of learning and business impact and will cover subject such as: Artificial Intelligence in finance, Virtual Banks as well as more specific topics like Regtech, Insurtech, cybersecurity and more.

By launching the programme, Hong Kong Cyberport is committed to nurturing FinTech talent, thereby enrich the talent pool and promote the adoption of innovative FinTech solutions in the traditional financial services sector.

An info-session was held on Monday (4 November) with of over 70 representatives from human resources and training departments of financial institutions attended. CFTE’s Head of Entrepreneurship, Janos Barberis hosted a mock seminar themed “Challenger Banks: Global Phenomenon, Local Logic” in the session.

CFTE is proud to expand to Hong Kong, backed by such strong vision and partners. This aligns with our mission: in a tech world we bet on people.” – said Janos Barberis, CFTE Head of Entrepreneurship.

CFTE is honoured to partner with Cyberport and to assist with delivering high-quality content that contributes to the development of the new financial workforce. The Centre sees the launch as a further expansion to the APAC region and wants to act as a bridge between Fintech ecosystems of Europe and Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Cyberport is the largest digital technology hub in Hong Kong, housing more than 1,400 start-ups and technology businesses including over 360 Fintech companies, forming the most vibrant FinTech ecosystem in the region.

We hope the programme will further expand local talent pool by enhancing Fintech mindset and embracing innovative solutions as well as accelerating digital transformation in the sector.

The partnership with Hong Kong Cyberport is the latest milestone in a series of top-tier government collaborations by CFTE. This follows the launch of a Programme of AI in Finance in the Middle East with ADGM Academy, the partnership with Finance Montreal to create the first online course on Open Banking and cooperation with the Budapest Institute of Banking to distribute the CFTE courses in Eastern Europe.
