C is for the Cotswolds – and a weekend of adventures
It’s a fabulous view from Broadway Tower. The brainchild of Capability Brown, this folly stands on the second-highest point of the Cotswolds (after Cleeve Hill) and the vistas are as expansive as you would expect, stretching for miles across perfect English countryside. It’s a steep climb up from Broadway village, but so worth it.
This is a precious moment of peacefulness in what has been a thrill-packed weekend. First there was the target shooting – using a bow and arrow turns out to be more difficult than it looks, but with a bit of instruction and practice, you hit the target more often than not. The same applies to shooting with an air pistol. Then there was exploring the countryside on two wheels and four wheels, as you took to the Segway along the footpaths, and headed off into the hills on a quad bike safari – after receiving full instruction, of course! All new experiences, all so exciting, and a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty of the Cotswolds in a multi-activity weekend away.
