WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MATISSE ON A CHAPTERS EXPERIENCE HOLIDAY
Opening at the Royal Academy of Art from 5 August to 15 November 2017, the sumptuous Henri Matisse exhibition ‘Matisse in the Studio’ offers a rare glimpse into the artist’s personal collection of objects from around the world and the paintings, sculptures and drawings that these inspired. With visits to the Matisse and Chagall art museums, other highlights comprise the hillside walk to the lookout on Parc du Château for wide sweeping views of the Bay of Angels and Maritime Alps, the exquisite Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild with its nine themed gardens and stunning seascape backdrop and the headland walking trail on Cap Ferrat. In addition, the trip also includes excursions to the medieval hilltop enclaves of Eze, St Paul de Vence and Vence where Matisse lived and painted for six years of his life.
