FAR, a short film featuring Kim Bodnia and Louis Bodnia Andersen, announces CloseUp PR

'FAR' is a unique father/son film set on a camping trip that spirals out of control when the son discovers his father is keeping a secret from him. The film stars Danish actors Kim Bodnia (’The Bridge’, ‘Pusher’ and ‘Rosewater') and his real-life 20 year old son Louis Bodnia Andersen in his debut role. 'FAR is written by Louis Bodnia Andersen and his cousin Alexander Bodin Saphir. The film is directed by Alexander Bodin Saphir, who is a Danish/British writer and filmmaker currently co-directing and producing a documentary backed by The British Film Institute.

'FAR' is being part funded through the crowdfunding website, Kickstarter, which has allowed Kim Bodnia to dialogue directly with his fans and also to offer some very personalised rewards to backers of the project. “It's been a passion project for everybody involved and no one more so than Kim,” says Alexander Bodin Saphir. “It's a film about fathers and sons and for Kim and Louis to put themselves out there and give these incredibly honest and raw performances is rare to see – it was a real privilege to work with them on it.”

Kim Bodnia agrees saying: "I didn't hesitate to jump on board this project. I thought; this is the way to make a father and son story. It's been an amazing experience and I know that the audience will be able to feel the special connection because we're so closely connected. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie on the big screen".

'FAR' is an English language film, filmed in the Sussex countryside over 8 days during the Summer.

“One of the most important things for us was to be honest at all times throughout the creative process.” explains Louis. “The improvisation between my father and I was really just like playing. We would find all these small things on location that we could use that meant the story kept evolving as the progress of the characters developed. And working on location with my father and Alexander, the director, was great. I felt so comfortable at all times even though I was in a fragile state as we explored some really complex emotions.”

Alexander continues: "One of the things that makes this project different from most is that we never closed the creation process. This meant we were open to discovering some really key story moments on set that might have otherwise been lost. This was made easier because of the documentary experience of the team, which meant we could let the actors just create and the story unfold naturally. "

"It was a risky experiment – we could have ended up with little usable footage and no story, but instead we came away with some incredible performances and a fascinating relationship drama."

'FAR' is 19 min long, and will tour the major International film festivals in 2015. The Kickstarter campaign is open until 11pm on Thursday Dec. 4th, and there are some great pledge incentives, including exclusive Skype sessions with Kim Bodnia, signed posters and personally signed "The Bridge" DVDs, and the opportunity to get a co-producer credit.
