“Forget Brexit: let’s get on with it!” German company Connox launches UK site in referendum aftermath
Just days after the results of the Brexit referendum, German interior design company Connox has jumped into the British market with both feet. The launch of connox.co.uk brings to British shores over 16,000 original designs for the home and office, as company founders throw caution to the wind to better serve their British customers.
“We had been planning to expand into the British market for a long time,” reveals company founder Kristian Lenz, “once all the preparations were made, our final date was set for 29th June – less than a week after the EU referendum. Some suggested we should delay, but we were already excited. We thought, “Forget Brexit, let’s get on with it!”. Hopefully our British friends will forgive us for being frightfully European,” he quips.
Beginning in Germany in 2002, Connox has grown from a small company of two to a dedicated team of over 90. The colleagues share a passion for high quality home design; carefully selecting designer furniture and home accessories from all over the world, presenting over 400 renowned brands such as Vitra, Marimekko, Hay, Iittala, Eva Solo and many more.
Now in their third week of trading from connox.co.uk, Marketing Manager Stephanie Marlow reports that spirits are high. “We’ve already seen a steady trickle of sales, and our dedicated customer care team have been taking calls from Brits looking for interior design advice.” As one of the small team of British employees at Connox, Marlow has had a unique perspective on the unfolding consequences of the referendum results: “There are bound to be challenges ahead as an EU company trading with Britain, but we’re not too worried about business. Our main priority is our customers, and they will always come first. We have other websites outside the EU, so we’ll use that experience to overcome any obstacles. When it comes to the red tape and export fees we may face in the future, we borrow a phrase from our other European friends: c’est la vie!”.
