Press release -

Last chance to enter the National Geographic Photography Contest for Kids 2015!

With four categories to enter – Amazing Animals, Dare to Explore, Weird But True and Wild Vacation – children

aged six to 14 from across the UK and Ireland are invited to submit their photographs for judging by a panel

which includes top telly adventurer Helen Skelton, children’s TV presenters Sam and Mark, and National

Geographic photographer Reza.

The overall UK and Ireland winner will scoop an incredible nine-day family adventure holiday in Costa Rica

courtesy of The Family Adventure Company. They’ll hike through Costa Rica’s rainforest, go white-water

rafting, explore Poas Volcano National Park, and check out the monkeys, sloths, toucans and iguanas living

in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. It’s the trip of a lifetime!

The overall winner and the other three category winners will each scoop a special bespoke Academy

Photography Course for their whole class from camera specialists Jessops, as well as a Nikon S33 camera,

a Tecno Compact Case, a Sandisk Ultra 16GB memory card and an online printing voucher worth £20!

“I’m so excited about judging this year’s photography competition,” says judge Helen Skelton. “It’s not easy to

take great photos, but I know that National Geographic Kids’ readers will rise to the challenge and take pictures

that’ll make me go ‘wow!’ Good luck everyone!”

All prize-winning images from the UK and Ireland competition will then be entered into the National

Geographic International Photography Contest for Kids. They will compete with other National Geographic

Kids readers from around the world for the Grand Prize – a trip to National Geographic HQ in Washington D.C.,

USA. The winning photographs will also be printed in a future issue of National Geographic Kids magazine.

The competition closing date is 15 October 2015, and entrants must be aged between 6 and 14.|
