The Mummies & Guitar Wolf Headline Europe's Greatest Garage Rock Party Weekend: Funtastic Dracula Carnival
Funtastic Dracula Carnival returns for it's eleventh year running, boasting the only festival of it's kind that offers punters a non-stop party for three days encapsulated inside a giant UFO venue, with indoor pool, cheap booze, food and market stalls for every curiosity, all night DJ's, go-go girls, Halloween costume party, and some of the best bands on the planet. The festival tickets annually sell out six months in advance, with this years online stampede cashing out in 5 frantic minutes with fans glued to their screens, pounding the refresh button, and crossing their toes for the servers not to crash. Many with slow reflexes and broadband connections were left bitterly disappointed.
This years monster lineup features "Budget Rock" legends, The Mummies. Forming in San Mateo, California in 1988, the four-piece, became a key part of San Francisco's burgeoning garage punk scene of the early 90s. Taking surf, 50s and 60s garage and punk they became one of loudest, stupidest most deranged bands on the planet and ended up influencing an insane amount of bands.
Decked out in head to toe black leather, shades, greased up hair and delivering a devastating cherry bomb guitar attack, Guitar Wolf successfully pull off the balancing act between high art concept and gut-driven punk rock, throwing in an unhealthy (or healthy, depending on how you look at it) obsession with sex, alcohol, and UFOs for good measure.
