 Analyzing sales trends from 1000s of orders, online company Easyart.com is able to gain insight into the nations art buying habits and mood as a whole. Easyart saw a 21.5% uplift year on year in sales of romantic art during Q4 2011 and the trend looks set to continue for 2012.

Sales in the romantic category for were dominated by orders from men with 60% of these bearing a gift message, suggesting that guys are using art as a way to win the affections of the opposite sex. Classic black and white images were amongst the most popular category within romantic art and include greats like El Morocco, 1955 by Garry Winogrand. Female nudes were another popular choice leading us to wonder whether men are really choosing the art gift most likely to appeal to their partner! The number one artwork in the romantic category is Klimt's timeless and seductive 'The Kiss'.
