Director of Education Finder   Marja-Riitta Ritanoro and the Education Finders manager in Nigeria  Lilian Chibiko met her excellency    Mrs. Omolewa Armed who visited  Finland and Sweden with Kwara State delegation.

Women health and teacher training  in Kwara

Her Excellency Mrs Omolewa the first lady of Kwara State, expressed their interest to partner with Education Finder in health related issues for women and capacity building of the quality of their teachers.

Education Finder decided to visit Kwara State to see the realities on ground and discuss the best approach towards the needs of the State.

Background

Education Finder has been working in Nigeria through their local NGO Net Educational Advancement Initiative (www.neaieducation.org) especially on women4women bus business,  women capacity building in rural areas and working with young leaders .

Education is one of the basic human rights that has been recognised since the 1948 adoption of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights

Nigeria is the biggest country in Africa with a population of about 150-170 million people and the majority of the population are young people.  Nigerian education System has been very poor quality.

Many factors have been responsible for this poor quality education. It is quite a pity that governments have been investing a lot into education but there has been bad result towards improving the quality. One of the major problems in Nigeria is corruption, lack of quality teachers, poor funding and poor management.
